 Baptism
June 24, 2012

I got baptized yesterday and it was quite the experience!  Our church baptizes you in a super cool horse trough filled with, thankfully, warm water!  I had been thinking about getting baptized for awhile now and when I saw the announcement in the church bulletin I realized it was finally my time!  I filled out the paperwork, answered the questions and turned everything in before I could back out.  I don't love being on display or having the attention on me so the idea of getting up in front of the entire church was a little scary but I did it and I am really glad I did!  I am lucky enough to have two really great mentors/encouragers in my life who help me navigate my faith by answering questions, explaining things I don't understand and listening to me.  These two amazing people are my sister-in-law, Erica, and my mother-in-law, Bo.  These two women have been a steady part of my life since I started dating Brett and without them yesterday would not have been nearly as special! I am eternally grateful for their love and support!  My father-in-law, Dick, was also present and very helpful.  Not only did he hold my towel but I am told he was the one who recited that I was baptized in the name of the father, son and holy spirit!  Brett was also there with Trevi! He kept her with him, despite a little noise from her, until after I was baptized.  It was really important to me to have her and Brett there!  I can't to wait explain this moment to her one day!  Also, had I not met Brett, I might not have ever explored this burning flame in my heart.  Not knowing what it was before and then having it slowly reveled as my relationship with the Lord would not have happened had I not met Brett, been encouraged to explore it and excited to continue learning!  Last but not least my parents were there to support me!  I'll admit, I was a little nervous to tell them, but they were very gracious and supportive.  It was neat to have them attend the church that I have spent 4 years at now.  I know they ran into some friends and probably a few patients which may have been comforting for them to see a familiar face.  This was a very cool day!!! I was baptized with about 10 other people and it was really great to hear their testimonies and share the day with them!

Thanks John for the pictures! You made a very un-graceful event look pretty cool!

Kate, what a beautiful story! Brings tears to my eyes. Looks like you were surrounded by a host of witnesses.
