Maui Day 1:

Well, it's just after 7am here in Maui (read the previous post to find out how I got here on such short notice!) and already Trevi and I have been to Safeway, took a little scenic drive, went for a run, played on the beach and now T is napping! That's what you get with a 4am wake up call due to the time change! If you are thinking my life sucks... think again! It was actually a nice little morning and since I went to bed at 845pm last night 4 am didn't feel as painful as usual!  I got to see the sunrise, wave good morning to other fellow joggers and hopefully start Trevi on a two nap schedule while here!

Before I post some pictures here's a great story for you all to enjoy! Since Trevi is under 2, there is no point in spending the money on an extra ticket until we have to so I take the risk and hope and pray I will get an extra seat for her so I can take her car seat on the plane.  Every other flight I have been successful.  However, I got to the airport yesterday and was told that there was no way.  The plane was not entirely full however there was no way to get 2 seats next to each other so I was destined to the plane ride from hell with an 18 month old on my lap. When trying to get her an extra seat at the gate ticket counter there is a fine line between being persistent enough but not so annoying that they want to kill you. So, I tried my best and even my parents tried a little. At the very last minute (like we were the only people not on the plane) my mom asked if she could upgrade my ticket to first class providing there were two seats next to each other and I could have one and Trevi could have have the other.  The lady said it was too late and not possible. So down the jet bridge we go. I settle into my seat with T on my lap and my parents settle in their seats.  At the very last possible minute my mom asks one the flight attendants the same questions (could she buy a first class upgrade and send me up there) she explained that the lady at the counter could not do it and maybe she could pay on the plane instead. He said no but seemed sympathetic and sort of confused that the ticket counter didn't do as my mom had asked.  Next thing I know another flight attendant comes to me with a ticket in first class with an open seat next to it!!!!!!!!!!!! (we didn't even pay) So, there T and I go up to first class! I did ask if I could get her car seat out of cargo but was told it was too late however I am thankful we didn't get it! She literally sat in her seat the WHOLE time! Never tried to get up or unbuckle her seat belt! She was an angel and really seemed to fit the bill for first class :)

First, before you look at some super cute pictures of the little miss, let me give a shout out to my awesome husband! A few days ago I made the mistake of looking at the weather forecast for our town and since I was in a depressed coma I stupidly brilliantly looked at the weather in my favorite place on the planet, MAUI! I then made a fatal mistake of looking at ticket prices (usually this sequence of events makes me even more depressed than the weather forecast because tickets are expensive) but this time I looked they happened to be very reasonable.  I mentioned it to Brett and of course he was all over it and kept asking me every 5 minutes if I had bought a ticket yet... my answer was always no. I could not bring myself to buy a ticket for just Trevi and I to leave while Brett was stuck back here working and we were living it up in the sun and sand.  Well, here comes the husband of the year award...

Happy Monday!!

I love Monday's at our house! We don't usually have a lot planned, technically it is still the weekend for us (yea, for being an at home mom), we go to the gym and I get my butt kicked while Trevi plays in the nursery and we usually run an errand before settling at home for a nap and then an afternoon of playing outside!  Here are some pictures from our morning so far! It's a great start to a good week!

 ok, this was tecnhically yesterday by G in the church nursery but I had to share it! Apparently Trevi is channeling her inner dentist! She wants to be just like her grandpa and a uncle!

Time and time again Trevi is teaching me patience and helping to learn to let go of my control issues! There have been many things I wanted Trevi to do or not do (drink from a sippy cup, wear pig tails, ditch the pacifier, brush her teeth, use utensils, etc.) and I try try try and try again and we battle, fight, cry, and then I finally give up.  It never fails that once I finally give up and stop battling with her she seems to figure it out on her own! Pig tails for example  I have been trying to get this girl to wear a headband, clip, or pig tails for soooooo long now and every time it was such a battle.  I would try to force her and she would get up set and pull them out.  So, finally I just decided it was not a big deal and I stopped trying.  Well, today I asked her if she wanted them in her hair and she said yes.  I figured she would rip them out straight away but instead she wore them for the whole morning and again in the afternoon! She did pull them out in the car but let's be honest she gets bored in the car.  So, for all you control freak out there just relax and let them figure it out on their own time! Now, I am not saying to let your kids run the show and you just fold every time they don't do something you want.... you are still the parent after all... but sometimes it's not worth the battle. Especially for vanity sake, which all my issues were.  

Just a side note, all the things listed above have been figured out since I relaxed about it and let her figure it out! She can use a sippy cup, she will let me brush her teeth and she actually asks many many times a day for her tooth brush, she ditched the pacifier cold turkey Easter and she can eat cherrios and milk along with everything else with utensils!!!

Mini Cooking School

On another note, Trevi and I had a birthday party to go to this afternoon! Happy 40th Uncle Mike!! So we decided what is better than cookies for your birthday! Trevi and I spent the morning in cooking school where she not only learned the valuable lesson of making chocolate chip cookies but she also learned how delicious the batter is!

I have added a few "pages" or tabs to my blog that you can check out! I added a bible study page where I plan to discuss any fun or interesting topics from our bible studies or book clubs.  I also made a staying active page where I will be logging some of my workouts, tips for working out and talking about my running progress! Lastly, today I created a cooking/eating blog where I will post recipes, shopping tips and other fun stuff that has to do with food! Check them out periodically!

Zoo Day

 It was a sunny afternoon and Trevi woke up from her nap a little earlier than usual so I decided to take her out to enjoy the weather! We headed to the zoo and said hi to all the animals there!!! T loves the zoo and practicing all her animal noises! Here are some shots from today!!!!
